Hi Thomas, thanks for your comment. You are right that your life in World of Warcraft (or any of the other games) allow you indeed to do all those things. However, they have always stayed inside the game. With the metaverse, these things move out of the game and into the ‘real’ world. Moreover, ideally in an open metaverse, the things you buy, win or own in WoW can be transferred to other worlds and sold, used, or monetized in those other worlds.

The metaverse is the next iteration of the internet and it will take many of the components of the gaming world into the real world, including all the scams and dangers. However, although all the dangers described already exist on today’s internet, they will be extrapolated in the metaverse simply because the immersive internet will be so pervasive. Hope this clarifies.
